On September 25, 2025, the House of Blues in Houston was electrified by an unforgettable night of rock and roll, courtesy of The Struts and Dirty Honey.
Fans packed the iconic venue for a double bill that merged glam,
swagger and modern rock energy, resulting in a concert that lived up
to and surpassed the hype.
Dirty Honey Fires Up the Crowd
Dirty Honey
kicked off the evening with a set that proved why they’re one of the
most talked-about rising bands in rock. The Los Angeles quartet
delivered raw, blues-infused rock with an immediacy that caught the
crowd’s attention from the first chord. Frontman Marc LaBelle’s vocals
soared above gritty guitar riffs and pounding rhythms, setting the tone
for the night.
Dirty Honey opened with “Gypsy,” and right away LaBelle’s gravel-soaked vocals cut through the room like a call to arms. “California Dreamin’” and “Heartbreaker”
followed, both dripping with bluesy riffs from John Notto, while
bassist Justin Smolian and drummer Jaydon Bean laid down grooves that
felt both vintage and razor sharp.
The band leaned into its soulful grit on “Too Good at Being Bad” and “Another Last Time,” before cranking up the intensity on “The Wire” and “Don’t Put Out the Fire.” By the time they hit “When I’m Gone,”
the entire venue was belting out the chorus as if it had been theirs
all along. Dirty Honey sealed the deal with the one-two punch of “Won’t Take Me Alive” and the swagger-laden “Rolling 7s,” leaving the crowd sweaty, smiling and hungry for more.
The Struts Take Command
Enter The Struts, led by flamboyant frontman Luke Spiller who strutted onto the stage like a glam-rock ringmaster. They kicked off with “Primadonna Like Me,” Spiller preening and posturing with irresistible charm, before launching into “Body Talks” and “Roll Up.” The band’s blend of hooks and theatrics hit its stride on “Could Have Been Me,” the night’s first massive sing-along. “Kiss This” came with snarling attitude and “Put Your Money on Me” shimmered with arena-sized polish. A shift in tempo arrived with the poignant “Mary Go Round,” only to give way to the slinky punch of “Dirty Sexy Money” and the playful bounce of “The Ol’ Switcheroo.”
The back half of the set was all adrenaline. “She Makes Me Feel” kept fans on their toes, “Young Stars” slowed the tempo with Luke at the piano while “Black Swan” showcased a darker, more dramatic side. “These Times Are Changing”
led off with Luke telling the story of how there were two versions
released of the Everybody Wants album. The album was first
released in United Kingdom and it did little on the charts there,
however it did get lots of airplay in France, so The Struts decided to tour France. While in Paris The Struts
caught the eye of the Rolling Stones who invited them out on tour with
them. Following the tour with the Stones they found themselves on a
plane to LA where they were signed to Interscope Records/Polydor and in
August of that year they released the EP Have You Heard. This was their first
U.S. release and they began a tour in support of the record in the States.
Luke stated that this time period felt in fact like the times were
changing which led to the song with the same name being added to the US
release of Everybody Wants.
Spiller briefly dropped the bravado for “Only Just a Call Away,” a heartfelt moment that had the venue swaying in unison. Then came the finale: “Where Did She Go,” a blistering closer that erupted into a full-house chant, leaving Houston begging for an encore.
Atmosphere and Production
The House of Blues
provided an intimate yet energetic setting, with excellent acoustics
that amplified both bands’ dynamic performances. Stage lighting swirled
in sync with the music and the audience, ranging from longtime fans to
newcomers, fed off the infectious excitement. The night’s production
was tight and professional, allowing both bands’ personalities and
musicianship to shine.
A Rock Revival Done Right
The Struts and Dirty Honey
delivered a concert that was more than just a showcase of rock—it was a
celebration of live music’s power to unite, energize and inspire. Both
acts brought their best to Houston, making September 25, 2025, a night
to remember for everyone in attendance. Whether you came for the glam
or the grit, you left with no doubt: rock and roll is alive and
thriving at the House of Blues.
