Steel Panther turned Warehouse Live Midtown
in Houston into a neon-soaked time machine on Sunday the 31st,
transporting fans straight back to the glory days of ‘80s hair metal.
Complete with shredding guitars, outrageous banter and more innuendo
than most crowds could handle in one night.
The night kicked off with Houston’s own Thrower,
a local band that wasted no time setting the tone. Their gritty riffs
and raw energy hit hard, and the crowd, already buzzing with
anticipation, fed off their heavy grooves. It was clear Thrower
wasn’t intimidated by the legendary headliners; instead, they delivered
a confident set that got fists pumping and made a strong case for why
they deserve a bigger stage.
When Steel Panther
finally hit the stage, the place erupted. Frontman Michael Starr
strutted out in full glam gear, while guitarist Satchel, bassist
Spyder, and drummer Stix Zadinia immediately launched into a
high-octane performance. Their set kicked off with “Eyes of a Panther” and “Tomorrow Night”,
immediately igniting the packed floor into a sea of fists and
sing-alongs. Satchel’s riffs and Michael Starr’s over-the-top vocals
gave the performance a razor-sharp energy, while the band’s signature
tongue-in-cheek humor kept the mood playful. “Asian Hooker,” “Fat Girl (Thar She Blows)” and “Friends With Benefits” had the crowd howling, proving Steel Panther’s brand of comedy-metal still lands as hard as their licks.
One of the night’s highlights came when Satchel unleashed a blistering solo, seamlessly weaving in riffs from classics like “Rock You Like a Hurricane,” “Seek and Destroy,” “Breaking the Law,” “Master of Puppets,” and “Iron Man.” Fans roared with every familiar riff, cementing the solo as both a showcase of his chops and a love letter to metal itself.
The band’s improv spirit was alive in the “Impromptu Song for a Girl,” before slowing things down with their raunchy ballad “Girl From Oklahoma.” From there, it was full-throttle chaos with “17 Girls In A Row,” and “Eatin’ Ain’t Cheatin’.”
The finale was pure Steel Panther - raucous, ridiculous, and irresistible. “Death to All but Metal,” “Community Property” and “Gloryhole” closed the night with fans screaming every word, leaving the venue drenched in sweat and laughter.
At Warehouse Live Midtown, Steel
Panther didn’t just play a show - they delivered an experience that was
equal parts rock concert, comedy act and time machine back to the
sleaziest, loudest days of Sunset Strip. With Thrower proving local Houston talent can hold their own, it was a night of high-octane fun that fans won’t soon forget.
