Christone "Kingfish" Ingram, Samantha Fish & Mathias Lattin Ignite the Stage in an Unforgettable Night of Soul and Strings

The House of Blues Houston was ablaze with blues energy on May 15, 2025, as the "Gone Fishin' Tour" brought together three generations of blues talent: the prodigious Mathias Lattin, the dynamic Samantha Fish, and the electrifying Christone "Kingfish" Ingram

Mathias Lattin: A Rising Star

Opening the evening, Houston's own Mathias Lattin showcased why he's a name to watch in the blues scene. At just 21, Lattin's set was a masterclass in blending traditional blues with contemporary flair. His performances of "Lose Some Weight" and "Party" were particularly notable, demonstrating his ability to craft engaging narratives through song. Lattin's guitar work was both articulate and expressive, capturing the audience's attention and setting a high bar for the night.

Samantha Fish: Fiery and Fearless

Next, Samantha Fish took the stage, delivering a performance that was both powerful and nuanced. From the moment Samantha Fish stepped on stage, the energy in the room surged. Dressed in her signature rockabilly-chic style, Fish launched into a gritty set that blended traditional blues with modern swagger. Her guitar tone was razor-sharp, her solos punchy and precise. Her setlist traversed her expansive catalog, including tracks from her latest album, "Paper Doll." Songs like "Fortune Teller" and "Black Wind Howlin'" highlighted her vocal prowess and intricate guitar work. Fish's stage presence was commanding, and her ability to connect with the audience made for an unforgettable experience.

Christone "Kingfish" Ingram: A Blues Phenom

Headlining the evening, Christone "Kingfish" Ingram proved why he's considered one of the most exciting blues artists of his generation. Christone Ingram, just 26 but already a blues veteran, emerged to thunderous applause, and it was clear the crowd was ready. Every note he played carried emotion. His set was a journey through emotion and technical brilliance, featuring songs like "Hard Times," " Empty Promises" and " Mississippi Night." Ingram's guitar solos were nothing short of incendiary, and his soulful vocals resonated deeply with the audience. He let his guitar sing as much as he did, often closing his eyes and tilting his head back, seemingly channeling something bigger than the stage. For the encore, Ingram was joined onstage by Fish and Lattin, all three trading blues licks for “Long Distance Woman.”

A Night to Remember

The "Gone Fishin' Tour" stop in Houston was more than just a concert; it was a celebration of the blues' rich heritage and its promising future. Each artist brought their unique voice to the stage, creating a tapestry of sound that honored tradition while pushing the genre forward. For those in attendance, it was a night of musical mastery that will be remembered for years to come.
