On May 20, 2025, the Bayou Music Center in Houston reverberated with the timeless sounds of Led Zeppelin as Jason Bonham's Led Zeppelin Evening (JBLZE) paid homage to the 50th anniversary of the iconic album Physical Graffiti. This tour marks the first time JBLZE has dedicated an entire performance to a single Led Zeppelin album, offering fans a unique and immersive experience.
A Legacy Reimagined
Jason Bonham, son of the legendary Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham, leads JBLZE
with a profound respect for his father's legacy. The band's lineup
features James Dylan on vocals and acoustic guitar, Dorian Heartsong on
bass and mandolin, Akio “Mr. Jimmy” Sakurai on lead guitar and Alex
Howland on keyboards and guitar. Together, they recreate the magic of
Led Zeppelin's music with remarkable authenticity and passion.
The H-Town Performance
The evening's setlist was a journey through Physical Graffiti, performed in its entirety. From the intricate rhythms of "Kashmir" to the soulful melodies of "Ten Years Gone,"
each track was delivered with precision and fervor. The band's
performance not only honored the original compositions but also infused
them with a fresh energy that captivated the audience. Jason
did note that they had originally started playing all the songs in
order off the album but they had since switched them around a little to
better help keep the audience engaged.
Beyond Physical Graffiti, JBLZE treated fans to other Led Zeppelin classics, “Good Times Bad Times” from Led Zeppelin I, “Whole Lotta Love from” Led Zeppelin II and “Rock and Roll”
from Led Zeppelin IV ensuring a comprehensive homage to the band's
storied catalog. The concert was more than a musical performance; it
was a heartfelt tribute that resonated with both longtime fans and
newcomers alike.
A Night to Remember
Jason Bonham's connection to the music and his father's legacy was reflected in the stories Jason
shared of his father and family throughout the evening. His drumming
was both a technical marvel and an emotional anchor, grounding the
performance in authenticity. The band's chemistry and dedication
transformed the Bayou Music Center into a portal to the golden age of
rock.
For
those in attendance, the concert was not just a nostalgic trip but a
celebration of music's enduring power to connect and inspire. As JBLZE
continues its tour, fans across the country can look forward to
experiencing this exceptional tribute to one of rock's most influential
albums.
