It has been just over a year since Geoff Tate came to town with the 30th Anniversary Tour. This time he returned with "A Big Rock Show Hits" set and tonight he would be aided by acclaimed hard rock singer/songwriter Mark Daly. Having been a Queensr˙che fan in their early years it was going to be great to see Geoff sing these songs live. After 30 years the man has proven that he has still got the pipes to send you back to those earlier years. First up tonight we have Mark Daly. A singer songwriter from Southern Ireland. Mark took the Stage and delivered “Gotta Run”, “Crying Shame” and “Peace of Mind”. His vocals were strong with emotion and the crowd responded approvingly. He continued with “Addicted to the Throne” and “Nothing to Lose”. He finished off the set with “Don’t look back”, a song that really had a rocking feeling. After a short interval with the room now packed Geoff took the stage and started right off with the all to familiar "Empire". The band was solid as an animated Tate prowled the stage. You could see that almost everyone there were dedicated and diehard fans of Mr. Tate. The roar of appreciation as the audience sang along, gyrated, headbanged and generally swayed confirmed Geoff was among fans, friends and family. Geoff ripped through a lenghty main set that ended with "Jet City Woman" and "Silent Lucidity". The encore came and after introducing the band to the audience while handing out naughty and nice Elves hats. With Christmas being right around the corner it was only fitting to start the encore off to a rocking version of "Jingle Bells" which led right into the closure of "Queen of the Reicht" . It was great to see so many turn out early to see Mark Daly deliver his support for Geoff, and it was a reflection on the fan base to be so courteous, and they were well rewarded too. Geoff's band was amazing. They played the music as it should be and how you remember it. They added a little of their own style but not enough to change the songs up. Geoff’s voice is still just as strong as it ever was. Geoff had great stories all night and was in an wonderful mood. |
