Today, Brooklyn-based independent alt-rocker Moon Walker announces his fifth record, WASTELAND COUNTRY, due out May 1 and available for pre-save now. Alongside the announcement, the musician continues to be incisive on intimate, honest acoustic track, "YOU'RE NEXT" out now, with an unsettling video that lays a foundational brick of the all-new Moon Walker universe. Moon Walker will take his fully-charged live show on the road across the U.S. this spring and summer. See a full list of dates below and find more information via listentomoonwalker.com/tour. Taking a maximalist approach, Moon Walker's Harry Springer liberally applies cinematic string sections, stacked harmonies, cathartic, wailing guitar solos and bombastic, dense arrangements across eleven piercing tracks. Gearing up to deliver his proudest work to date, Moon Walker shares, "This album is everything that I enjoy, everything I do, and everything I am, to the highest possible extent. This is an album that I have been dreaming of making since I first discovered my favorite albums like 'The Wall' and 'The Black Parade.' As a singer, guitar player, producer, songwriter and instrumentalist this is my best foot forward in every possible way." LISTEN: "YOU'RE NEXT" Expanding upon his sharp, post-apocalyptic themes, "You're Next" is the latest iteration of Moon Walker's active political dissent. The track came together easily, beginning with a 12 string acoustic section that takes on a nearly harp-like arrangement with double tracked instrumentation. With string arrangements done by Martin Kutnar, Moon Walker shares, "This is a moment where they particularly shine. Lyrically, it obviously invokes the famous Niemöller poem, 'First They Came.' It was also the song that took the least amount of time to write and record." The highly anticipated track has already seen hundreds of thousands of likes across social media. WATCH: "YOU'RE NEXT" (Official Music Video) Simply standing at a podium, looking directly into the camera, the artist sternly addresses the general public as the music steadily builds. On the video, director Madison McConnell shares, "I wanted the video to feel like a public address—formal, controlled, and ominously calm—it’s meant to feel familiar, authoritative, and quietly unsettling. While it also is a glimpse into the WASTELAND COUNTRY world to come." PRE-SAVE: WASTELAND COUNTRY Moon Walker will bring WASTELAND COUNTRY to the stage across the U.S. this spring and summer including up the East Coast in Brooklyn and Philadelphia in March, down through North Carolina and Florida. In April, the tour moves through Atlanta, New Orleans and two Texas shows before cutting through the Midwest including Indianapolis and Chicago. The final stretch will see a pair of California dates, Portland and Seattle and close with two Colorado stops in late June. Sharing five albums in five years, Moon Walker has consistently delivered biting social commentary with poignant lyricism through both thrashing garage rock and acoustic-driven tunes–all with a clear message and strong voice. The often viral independent musician has built a fervent fanbase for saying the quiet part out loud–boasting 500K+ Spotify monthly listeners, 150M+ Spotify streams, 100K+ subscribers on YouTube, 150M+ views on YouTube, and 1M+ TikTok followers across accounts. The artist has toured relentlessly over the last several years, including several sold out U.S. dates and shows supporting rock legends like Tool, Primus, Coheed and Cambria and more. V Magazine praised his 2024 track, "The TV Made Me Do It," writing, "The catchy indie-rock melody uses soulful bass lines and powerful lyrics to convey the dystopian intensity of the now-historical moment." On his 2022 record Attack of the Mirrors, New Noise Magazine added, "Moon Walker might just be the most important alternative rock band making music today." The versatile, uncompromising fifth record by Moon Walker, WASTELAND COUNTRY, is due out May 1 and available for pre-save here. Don't miss the electric live show across the U.S. this spring and summer with tickets available here. Connect with the musician via Instagram, YouTube and TikTok for more.
