RIAA Gold-certified, chart-topping Texas band Giovannie and the Hired Guns are back with today’s premiere of their high-energy new single, “Cheap Date,” available everywhere now via Nash York Records. Produced by Nashville’s Andrew Baylis (known for his hard-hitting work at the intersection of rock, alternative, and country, including artists like Jelly Roll, Koe Wetzel, and Brantley Gilbert), the track tells the tale of a chaotic – but irresistible – hookup and heralds the Stephenville, TX-based band’s hugely anticipated fifth studio album, arriving next year.

“‘Cheap Date’ is about finding someone on a night out who is just as much of a bad idea as you,” says founder and frontman Giovannie Yanez. “Some people want roses and reservations. Some of us want a fifth and someone we shouldn’t text.”

Currently boasting over 730M worldwide streams and counting, Giovannie and the Hired Guns will introduce fans to “Cheap Date” – and more new music to come – on a wide-ranging US headline run. The Cheap Date Tour begins tonight, September 24, at Canyon, TX’s The Lumberyard, then travels the country to a December 11 finale at Tulsa, OK’s historic Cain’s Ballroom. Additional 2027 dates will be announced. For complete details and ticket information, please visit www.gioandtheguns.com/tour.

Giovannie and the Hired Guns have spent the past decade earning critical acclaim and a still-growing fan following for a genre-smashing sound fusing alt-rock, Red Dirt country, Latin pop, Americana, and much more – guitar-forward, rowdy, and made for the road. Since their inception in 2015, the Stephenville, TX-based five-piece have ascended from local honky-tonks to taking the stage at major festivals and arenas across the country, winning over cowboys, metalheads, and skate punks alike with their explosive riffs, unforgettable hooks, and frontman Giovannie Yanez’s brutally honest songwriting.

A self-driven musician who got his start gigging in dive bars while working at a nearby rock quarry, Yanez grew up on such diverse sounds as outlaw country, classic rock, hip-hop, and Mexican folk music and deliberately assembled a lineup with similarly eclectic sensibilities. The band quickly proved a sensation thanks to a series of self-released albums and the word-of-mouth success of their frenetic live performances, a singular collision of force-of-nature energy, formidable camaraderie, and passionate refusal to stick to any particular style or sound.

Giovannie and the Hired Guns fully exploded onto the national scene in 2022 with the breakout hit single, “Ramon Ayala,” which reached #1 at both Alternative and Active Rock radio – the first debut radio-charting single in more than 15 years to top both formats simultaneously. A heartfelt tribute to the legendary Norteño “King of the Accordion,” the track spent five weeks atop Billboard’s “Rock & Alternative Airplay” chart en route to over 41.5M worldwide streams and RIAA Gold certification for over 500K units equivalent. A cavalcade of honors and accolades followed, including high-profile press attention from Rolling Stone and a 2023 iHeartRadio Music Award for “Best New Artist (Alternative & Rock),” the latter of which saw the band triumphing over such stars as Turnstile and Wet Leg, reflecting their unprecedented format-crossing audience reach across country, rock, alternative, and Hispanic/Tejano-facing listeners.

Now, with “Cheap Date” and a forthcoming fifth studio album that pushes even further into country rock and alternative territory while retaining the Red Dirt and Mexican-American musical foundation at the heart of their sound, Giovannie and the Hired Guns are poised to take the next huge step on what has already proven a gritty, crowd-thrilling journey all their own.
